Upcoming Dog Obedience Intake – Starting 28th September at Kaiata Hall

At It’s Not the Dog We’re Training, we're excited to announce our next intake for dog obedience classes, starting with a compulsory theory session on Saturday, 28th September at Kaiata Hall.

This first class is a foundational session where we’ll introduce our unique, praise-based training approach that forms the backbone of everything we do.

We ask that you do not bring your dog to this initial session, as it is purely theory-based, designed to help you understand the philosophy and techniques we use to create meaningful bonds between you and your dog.

Why This Theory Class is Essential

Often, we see families or individuals reach out to us when they feel their dog’s behavior is out of control, or they’ve lost confidence in managing their pet. This first class lays the groundwork for avoiding these common issues by focusing on building a strong, safe, and lasting relationship with your dog from the beginning.

Our aim is to equip you with the tools you need to foster a healthy, respectful bond that positively impacts not just your relationship with your dog but extends to your family and community. By creating a solid, trust-based relationship early on, we can prevent most behavior problems from taking root, making life easier for both you and your dog (kuri).

Practical Classes Start at Our Homestead

Following the theory class, our practical obedience sessions will kick off the next week at our homestead property, located at 69 Clifton Road, Kaiata—the home of our two brown dogs and a cat. This is where you’ll get to work hands-on with your dog, putting into practice the skills learned in the theory session.
